It sure didn’t feel like Fall at Friday Night Football.  We had a great crowd and even better Homecoming victory!  Congratulations to our former Stilwellians, JJ Kapur and Caroline Smoldt on being named 2017 Homecoming King and Queen!

Even though Homecoming has passed, we still have plenty going on at Stilwell.  Here are a few things to note:

  • Monday is picture retake day
  • Tuesday we have an assembly to Kick Off our Magazine Sale
  • Wednesday is our Power Hour of selling magazines and cookie dough
  • Activities on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday – This link will show you Volleyball’s updated schedule

We are going to try and help those affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma by doing a “Change Battle” with Waukee, Urbandale, and Johnston.  All schools are going to compete to try collect the most money this week.  After the totals are in, all four districts will pool our money together and donate to the Red Cross.  We hope students and families see this as a fun way to help those in need!

Finally, I would like to pass along a website to help you try and keep up with the ever changing world of social media and the apps your children maybe using.  Unfortunately, we have already had a few difficult situations involving social media and sharing inappropriate information with peers.  One app that was brought to our attentions is Live Me. There is also an option inside Snapchat, called Sarah that you may want to investigate.  In part of Snapchat students are part of a community forum where they are being mean and hurtful toward peers.  I strongly encourage you to be vigilant and get into your child’s phone from time to time.  Here is the link for your reference.   This site reviews apps, age appropriateness, and rating.

I hope you have a great week!
